Devoxx 2008 - day 3: Spring 3.0

I picked this session by elimination, even though it wasn't my favorite topic at all. But apparently this was the right choice. This was a very interesting session, giving an overview of the evolution of the Spring framework from version 1 onwards, and focussing on the annotations principle, with autowiring, automatically instantiating all beans in a specific package with 1 single XML statement, overriding the default behavior of the annotations using XML (XML configuration definitely is NOT dead; SpringSource tries to provide an XML-alternative for the annotations as much as possible).

But the best bit was about the implementation of REST in Spring. This gave a good understanding of the RESTful approach. This was a good introduction to the next talk, dealing with REST patterns and anti-patterns.
